What Makes the Difference at the Bench

Good watch servicing isn't only about skill — it's about how the work is communicated, documented and carried out within clear, agreed boundaries.

Six Reasons Clients Return to Escapio

Inspection-Led Honesty

We describe what we find, not what an owner hopes to hear. If a movement needs more than a clean, we say so before starting.

Calibrating Bench Results

Every movement service ends with documented timing readings across multiple positions — not an estimate, but measured data.

Written Documentation

You receive a written record of condition notes and work completed — a practical reference for your records or for a future sale.

Stated Prices, No Additions

Each service has a fixed price published in advance. Nothing extra is added without your knowledge and agreement.

Individual Attention

One watch at a time on the bench. No batching, no subcontracting, no passing your piece to someone you haven't spoken with.

Local Workshop Access

Southern Thailand without the need to courier to Bangkok. Drop off, collect and discuss your piece in person in Hat Yai.

A Watchmaker Who Knows the Caliber

Mechanical movements are not interchangeable. A Seiko NH35, a Miyota 9015 and a Swiss ETA 2824 share broad principles but differ in how they're lubricated, how they're adjusted, and what their timing tolerances look like in practice. Understanding those differences isn't something learned in a weekend — it comes from years of handling a wide range of calibers in real conditions.

At Escapio, the person who does the movement service is the same person who assessed the watch on intake. The assessment and the service aren't separated across different technicians, which means the work reflects what was actually found — not a generic protocol.

  • Over a decade of hands-on mechanical caliber work
  • Experience across Japanese, Swiss and Asian movements
  • Assessment and service carried out by the same technician
  • Regional climate factors considered in service notes
  • Timing machine measurements in six positions
  • Ultrasonic cleaning with watchmaker-grade solution
  • Calibrated lubricant dispensers — correct viscosity per component
  • Tools maintained to the same standard as the work they're used on

· Tools & Equipment ·

Equipment That Supports the Work

The tools at the bench aren't decorative. An ultrasonic cleaner removes debris from pinions and jewels without the risk that a peg-wood or brush introduces. A timing machine doesn't guess — it reads amplitude, beat rate and daily rate deviation with precision that no human eye can replicate.

We maintain our equipment as carefully as the watches we work on. A poorly calibrated machine or degraded lubricant affects results just as much as poor technique.

· Communication ·

Service You Can Follow and Understand

Watch servicing can feel opaque if the technician doesn't explain what they've done. We write down what we find, describe what the work involved, and hand that record to the owner at collection — not as a gesture, but as a practical document.

If something unexpected is found during a service, we contact you before proceeding. The decision about what to do next is always yours.

  • Written condition notes on intake
  • Documentation of work completed at handover
  • Contact before any unplanned work is done
  • Plain language — no jargon unless you want to go deeper

What You Won't Find Everywhere

Six-Position Timing on Every Service

A movement measured in only one or two positions can look healthy when it isn't. We test all six orientation positions and document the spread — which gives a more honest picture of the caliber's actual daily performance.

Pre-Sale Inspection as a Dedicated Service

Most watch shops will only assess a piece they've agreed to service. We offer inspection as a standalone service with a written output — useful specifically for buyers and sellers who want neutral information before a transaction.

Southern Thailand Access Without Couriering

Owners in Hat Yai and across Songkhla province can bring a watch in person, discuss its condition directly and collect it without the cost or risk of posting a timepiece to a workshop in another city.

No-Polish Commitment Unless Agreed

We do not refinish or polish cases as a default part of service. Original brushing and finish are preserved unless polishing is specifically requested. This matters considerably for the long-term value of many pieces.
